Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers stated they were notified by a man who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then located many other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
